Pacific Northwest Book Awards
Celebrating Great Books of the Pacific Northwest
Since 1964 the PNBA has presented annual awards to recognize excellence in writing from the Pacific Northwest. Rather than soliciting nominations for specific categories, we simply require that the author and/or illustrator reside within the PNBA region (Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Montana, Idaho and British Columbia) and that the book be published within the current eligibility period. In addition, special awards may be given honoring efforts in publishing, illustration, or for a body of work. Special awards are determined at the discretion of PNBA's Book Awards Committee.
The Awards Committee is made up of independent booksellers representing the PNBA region. A new committee is formed each March and the winning books are picked by the committee in mid-October. To be eligible for a PNBA Book Award: —Publication must occur within established annual parameters, currently Oct. 1 2021 - Sept. 30 2022. —Primary contributor or contributors must currently reside full-time within the PNBA region, which includes Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia. —Book must display and be identifiable by a valid 13-digit ISBN. —Book must be available U.S. direct and/or through a viable book wholesale distribution outlet. —Book must be obtainable with industry standard wholesale terms and returns policies. Nominations for the 2023 Awards are now closed.
The 2023 Shortlist will be announced in early November. The winners will be announced in early January, 2023. Nominations for the 2024 Awards (for books published between 10/1/22 - 9/30/23) will be opened on March 1, 2023 Nominations should be made via email to: Awards@pnba.org
Be sure to include the AUTHOR and PLACE OF RESIDENCE, TITLE, and PUBLISHER'S NAME, ADDRESS and LEAD CONTACT. A list of current committee members will be supplied to you. You are then required to supply a copy of the nominated book to every committee member on the list. You are also strongly encouraged to nominate and supply books as they are published to avoid a late onslaught and allow committee members ample time to give your title a fair and thorough review. Northwest booksellers are also encouraged to make nominations! |
