Details:
The Sweet and Greet is a coffee and dessert reception held in a large ballroom with each author at their own table scattered around the room. Attendees will have the opportunity to visit the bar and a dessert buffet and will mill around the room visiting authors at their tables.
Authors should plan to arrive at 8:00 p.m. to claim their table and set up. If your books were shipped, we will have them in the room, along with friendly and experienced staff who will be available to help get your books to your table and, if you need it, help you get set up. You will then have a few moments to grab yourself some wine or coffee and a dessert before we open the doors to the attendees.
One of the goals of this event is to showcase your personality so booksellers can see what kind of event you could produce at their store. It is a lively and fun evening, giving booksellers a chance to interact with you in an informal setting.
Your publisher will have agreed to provide at least 100 copies of your book for you to sign and give to booksellers during the event. Feel free to bring any appropriate props (keeping in mind that you will have one four-foot table for props, books, and a space to sign books). You may bring an assistant, or we can assign staff to help you during the event. Please let us know if you might want assistance when you sign up so that we can have enough staff available.
PNBA will give you--and one preregistered guest--free badges to attend the entire show. Your badges will provide you with entry to the educational sessions earlier in the day, to the exhibits, and to all other PNBA events and parties, except those that require meal tickets. If you (and your guest) would like to attend any of the other meal events at the show, please fill out an Attendee Registration Form, indicating which meals you would like to purchase and for whom they should be held, and how you will pay for those tickets. Your badges and meal tickets will be held under your last name and may be picked up at the PNBA registration desk. If you are unable to pick them up before registration closes, the event coordinator will have them for you at the event.
PNBA considers the authors featured at our shows to be our celebrities. Our booksellers need to meet you, hear about your books, and decide which of you to invite to do author events at their stores. Those events are one of the few ways that our member stores can distinguish themselves from online and big-box booksellers—providing their customers with a chance to meet and interact with the actual author in an event that will work well for you. We pledge to treat you as the celebrity you are and to make sure that you have a fun and productive show.
