Flying BooksNorthwest Book Lovers is a book blog featuring PNBA member stores, libraries, Northwest titles and authors, and everything literary in the Northwest. With fresh, original content, NW Book Lovers champions a behind-the-scenes indie store kind of vibe.

NW Book Lovers is not just for PNBA members; it is for anybody who cares about book culture in the Northwest. We hope our stores will promote Northwest Book Lovers, and their part in it, to their customers. We have placed three ad versions on this very page that we encourage you to incorporate into your websites, blogs and e-newsletters. Share NWBL with your customers, bring them into your realm, and sell them a book or two.

One NightstandNightstand
What's In Your Stack?

We want your personal responses, persuasive comments, and mini-reviews. Sharing your taut, shelftalker-worthy pitches could turn a handseller fave from your little store into a regional sensation. And every good bookseller likes another source they can trust, because we can't read them all.

One Nightstand is the most readily interactive part of the blog. All you have to do is click on "WHAT'S IN YOUR STACK?" and follow the prompts--no need to even come up with an image, we'll take care of that. And within a few hours of submission, you're selling books from Ketchum to Ketchikan!

*If you have a strong recommendation for a book with a NW angle, we might want to feature it in our Face Out section, where we publish your reviews of NW books. Feel free to send those blurbs straight to Jamie.

NW Voices
Essays and Interviews

Here's where authors and other Northwest literary figures tell us about themselves and their work. Last week's featured piece has been good for nearly 50 public comments to date. NWBL is facilitating discourse! And the current featured author just so happens to have plugged several of your stores among her faves while we shine a light on her work. Readers will connect those dots. NWBL will sell books!

There Are a Lot of Good Stories Out There

We collect timely stories about Northwest authors and PNBA stores and put them all in one place for you. If a story mentions your store, you can be sure we'll link it up and send readers your way.

Where the Literary Action Can Be Found

From our own Brad Craft's Used Buyer 2.0 site to pop culture vortexes like Boing Boing and The Rumpus and all the way up to the highbrow of The New York Times and international cred of the Christian Science Monitor, this is the place to find a lineup of steady sources for book-related content.

How Can NWBL Help You?
Tradeshow Workshop with PNBA Staff

How can your store make the site work for you? How can it help an author's budding career? Join the PNBA staff at the fall show for a run-down of the site's strategic plan, our hopes for helping bookstores sell more books, and our concept of how a group effort will result in more success for all of us.

Enhance Your NWBL Profile
Your Ad in the Front Page Rotation

Powell's Red ButtonAll member stores have a directory listing, and our Tour a Store feature will give every store the chance to be front and center periodically, but there's also something about a good old-fashioned visual button that still does the trick.

We will rotate member store postage stamp ads that we like to call the "Northwest Condo" for any store that has provided an original Store Directory blurb (and photo when necessary) and volunteers to provide information for a spot in Tour a Store. NW Condos are 160p wide x 206p max. high (160-206p range will work if utilizing an existing ad). Of course, we'd also like the reciprocation of a NWBL ad on your site, completing the circle and enabling the flow that really makes NWBL work for us all.
Every Bookseller In The Loop
PNBA Needs Email Contacts for All Staff Members

With the development of NWBookLovers, publishers have begun to build campaigns that take advantage of the web of PNBA promotional opportunities--Footnotes, Northwest New Title Preview, Bookseller Blasts, etc. What that means is that pubs are increasingly giving away ARCs and even finished books to our targeted NW indie bookselling community. And we want everyone in on the action!

With an annual PNBA membership for your store, each and every one of your employees is eligible to receive the monthly Footnotes newsletter, three seasonal Northwest New Title Preview announcements and Bookseller Blasts that frequently offer booksellers review copies of books that have been pegged for Northwest handselling potential.

So send those email addresses and just let us know you're an employee member who'd like to get in on the goods. No strings!
