Love, Lore, and the Unknown:
The Expanding Universe of Genre Fiction

From romantasy to cozy horror, today’s genre fiction is reshaping the bookstore shelves—and readers are loving it. We’ll explore how authors are weaving together elements of romance, mystery, horror, science fiction, and fantasy to create fresh, emotionally rich, and commercially magnetic stories—and how booksellers can meet reader demand across genres and age groups. Expect lively discussion, title recommendations from Sourcebooks imprints such as Bloom Books, Poisoned Pen Press, and Sourcebooks Casablanca, and practical tools to help you:
  • Curate genre and hybrid genre sections with confidence
  • Handsell genre and cross-genre books to every type of reader
  • Build community through events and displays that highlight genre (and other types of!) diversity
If you’ve ever wondered how to shelve a fantasy romance with thriller pacing and a ghost in the attic—this session is for you!

Presenters: Jordan Standridge and Anna Lisa Sandstrum, Sourcebooks

Pairing the Artistry of Words
With Physical Presentation

As digital reading expands, the physical book has taken on renewed significance. Independent presses are increasingly experimenting with special editions, distinctive materials, and handcrafted production—yet these formats can be both exciting and burdensome for publishers and booksellers working on thin margins.

In this session, G. K. Allum, founder of Ink & Ribbon Press, will explore the evolving relationship between poetry, design, and the material life of books. Drawing on the experience of launching a nonprofit press devoted to carefully made, small-run poetry editions, the discussion will examine what booksellers are seeing on the ground: the appetite for collectable books, the realities of selling them, and whether interest in special editions can move beyond novelty toward something more intentional and enduring.

Presenter: Greg Allum, Founder and Editor, Ink & Ribbon Press

Inside the Libro.fm Bookseller Hub:
Collaborative Tools for Discovery

Curation is a bookstore’s superpower, but even the most seasoned buyers don't work in a vacuum. Successful discovery is a collaborative craft, blending national trend data with the collective pulse of the bookselling community to identify exactly which titles will resonate with your regulars. Madi Mullen and Lee Hooyboer will lead a deep dive into the Libro.fm Bookseller Hub as a tool for connecting booksellers with the data and community insight to hone your frontlist buying and backlist curation.

We’ll start by exploring how booksellers can leverage the Bookseller Hub's existing features to sharpen your store's selection, before moving to an interactive workshop on the future of the platform. Get an exclusive look at concepts for Bookseller Tags, Shared Favorites, and Cross-Store Browsing—features designed to turn collective industry wisdom into your shop’s next front-table favorite. Come ready to share your insights and help us design a discovery toolkit that works as hard as your booksellers do.
