Carson Ellis | Rumpelstiltskin | Scholastic Inc. / Orchard Books

In the follow-up to the bestselling The Three Billy Goats Gruff, comes Rumpelstiltskin (Orchard Books/Scholastic), the second brilliant fairy tale retelling illustrated by Oregon artist Carson Ellis. Ellis's folk-art style, the perfect complement to Mac Barnett's lively text, will introduce this timeless tale to a new generation of readers. Carson Ellis is the author and illustrator of Home and the Caldecott Honor picture book Du Is Tak?, and as well as the illustrator of The Shortest Day by Susan Cooper, The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart and the Wildwood Chronicles, written by her husband Colin Meloy. Rumpelstiltskin will be published in February, 2026.

Sean Gerrity | Wild on Purpose | Riverhead Books

Bozeman writer Sean Gerrity asks us to think bigger about conservation in Wild on Purpose (Torrey House Press), a call to action to restore and protect large-scale ecosystems. Chronicling the efforts of a small team of ordinary citizens bent on making a century-old dream a reality, Gerrity shows what it takes to create a wildlife reserve larger than nearly all of America's national parks - the American Prairie. Sean Gerrity is the founder of American Prairie, a Montana-based conservation organization dedicated to restoring and protecting large-scale ecosystems, and is the host of the podcast The Answers Are Out There.

Sonora Jha | Intemperance | HarperCollins Publishers / HarperVia

The nameless narrator in Seattle writer Sonora Jha's latest novel Intemperance (HarperVia) is a woman of a certain age who sparks a firestorm when she holds a contest, based on a fabled Indian custom, in which men compete to win her affections. This is a humorous fable for our times, peopled with strong women, angry men, meddling goddesses and a princess or two. Intemperance is also a disarmingly honest meditation on aging, love, romance and hope. Sonora Jha has published several previous novels, including The Laughter, which won a Washington State Book Award, and a memoir titled How to Raise a Feminist Son.

Tae Keller | When Tomorrow Burns | Random House Children's Books

Three middle school students embark on a quest to find a book that may just save their lives in When Tomorrow Burns (RHCB), a spectacular new novel for middle graders about fate and friendship from Tae Keller. When they were younger, the friends found a book that could predict the future; but as they got older and drifted apart, two of them forgot. But not Nomi. She just knows there's a sequel out there somewhere, and the three friends need to come back together and find it. Tae Keller is the author of several books for young readers, including Jennifer Chan is Not Alone and the Newbery Medal-winning When You Trap a Tiger. When Tomorrow Burns will be published in March, 2026.

Maria Semple | Go Gentle | Putnam

With plenty of humor, romance and intelligence, Maria Semple's new novel Go Gentle follows one woman’s cheerful determination to live a life of the mind only to have the heart force its way in. Adora Hazzard's carefully curated life is humming along brilliantly until a chance meeting with a handsome stranger upends everything. Suddenly, being content with what she has is no longer enough. Maria Semple's novel Where'd You Go, Bernadette spent a year on the NYT Best Seller list. Before becoming a bestselling novelist, Semple wrote for television, including for Beverly Hills, 90210, Mad About You, Saturday Night Live and Arrested Development. Go Gentle will be published in April, 2026.
