Sweet & Greet
Author Information
Held immediately following the Feast, this event is designed as a relaxing way to finish a busy day, offering a wide variety of authors and styles, and a wealth of interesting new books.
The Sweet and Greet is a low-key dessert-and-coffee affair to introduce booksellers to new books from about twenty authors. Authors will each be located at one of the cocktail rounds scattered throughout the space. Attendees will have the opportunity to get coffee and make dessert selections, and will mill around the room, visiting authors at their tables.
Authors should plan to be at the room where the event takes place at 8:00 p.m. to claim their table and set up. If your books were shipped we will have them in the room, along with friendly and experienced staff who will be available to help get your books to your table and, if you need it, help you get set up. You will then have a few moments to grab yourself some coffee and a dessert before we open the doors to the attendees.
One of the goals of this event is the opportunity to showcase your personality so booksellers can see what kind of event you could produce at their store. It is a relaxed and informal evening, giving booksellers a chance to interact with you in a casual setting.
Your publisher will have agreed to provide at least 75 copies of your book for you to sign and give to booksellers during the event. Feel free to bring any appropriate props (keeping in mind that you will have one cocktail table for props, books, and a space to sign books). You may bring an assistant, or we can assign staff to help you during the event. Please let us know if you might want assistance when you sign up so we can have enough staff available.
PNBA will give you and one preregistered guest free badges good for attendance to the entire show. Your badges will provide you with entry to the educational sessions earlier in the day, to the exhibits and to all other PNBA events and parties, except those that require meal tickets. If you (and your guest) would like to attend any of the other meal events at the show, please fill out an Attendee Registration Form, indicating which meals you would like to purchase and for whom they should be held, indicate how you will pay for those tickets, and send the form to PNBA. Your badges and meal tickets will be held under your last name and may be picked up at the PNBA registration desk until it closes at 4:30 p.m. If you are unable to pick them up before 4:30, the event coordinator will have them for you at the event.
PNBA considers the authors featured at our shows to be our celebrities. Our booksellers need to meet you, hear about your books, and decide which of you to invite to do author events at their stores. Those events are one of the few ways that our member stores can distinguish themselves from online and big-box booksellers—providing their customers with a chance to meet and interact with the actual author in an event that will work well for you. We pledge to treat you as the celebrity you are and to make sure that you have a fun and productive show.
